Private Plane Won't Send UNC Fees Sky High

It will cost about $100,000 a year, but UNC leaders say it's worth it. They're leasing a private plane for the medical school and the system's incoming president.

The plane will be used primarily to whisk medical experts all over the state to help those in need. And yes, it will also be used to shuttle the president to various UNC campuses.

Although it sounds a bit excessive, it's not new to UNC. The use of AHAC planes is something UNC has been doing for many years. It's a well understood practice, and something that's seen as a real asset to the state.

The cost of the plane will in no way impact student wallets.
