New Drunk Driving Bill Closer to Law

A bill aimed at toughening penalties for habitual drunk drivers is one step closer to becoming law. The State House passed the measure by a vote of 113 to 1 Monday.

The new law would include longer mandatory sentences, longer license revocation periods, treatment, and confiscation of the vehicle driven by the repeat offender.

The Senate is expected to vote on a similar bill next week.
