Raleigh police have confirmed that a drowning at Pines of Ashton apartments Wednesday night is being ruled as accidental.
Jermaine Hunter, 23, a student at Shaw University, drowned after diving into the deep end of the indoor pool. He was a resident of the apartment complex.

Police say Hunter and some friends were having a breath-holding contest at the time. Hunter's friends tried unsuccessfully to revive him.
Hunter was pulled from the water about 8:15 p.m. Emergency medical personnel also performed CPR during the half-mile trip to Wake Medical Center. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
Police say there was no foul-play involved.
