My Circle of Girls schedules music program for girls with autism

Girls with autism spectrum disorder can express themselves through music during a special class organized by My Circle of Girls and Kindermusik.

The program is June 11 in Durham. My Circle of Girls, started by a local mom whose daughter has autism, offers regular programs for girls with autism across the Triangle.

During the event, attendees can be involved in group activities and express themselves through music. Research reveals that people with autism benefit from music therapy and respond well to exposure to music, according to My Circle of girls. Increased social interactions, improved behavior and communication are among the benefits.

Girls, ages 2-11, are invited to register for Music and Me by emailing mycircleofgirls@gmail.com. Details about the event will be given once the participant is registered. The registration deadline is June 7.
