Science museum features tiny giants, singing mice

The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences will host a special screening this week of "Tiny Giants 3D," an award-winning movie that follows the stories of a chipmunk and a grasshopper mouse as they survive daily struggles.

Thursday's special screening includes 20 minutes of additional footage, popcorn, drinks and a presentation from Dr. Matina Kalcounis-Rueppell of UNC-Greensboro. Kalcounis-Rueppell will "transport the audience to her field site in California where she studies singing behavior in free-living nocturnal mice that cannot be seen or heard without remote sensing technology," according to the Raleigh museum's website.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., Thursday. The lecture starts at 6:30 p.m., followed by the film screening and Q&A at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and free for museum members.
