Monday Wrap: Already thinking about spring break

The House got back to work on Monday, but not before planning its next vacation.

Legislation to help clarify funding for the Coal Ash Management Commission passed the House 113-1 Monday night, but not before a controversial provision was removed. House lawmakers excised a provision that would have taken $100,000 from the Department of Public Instruction and handed it over to the Rules Review Commission.

But the House did decide to take $300,000 from the Department of Health and Human Services and give it to the State Auditor's Office for a study of how counties process Medicaid eligibility applications.

And while House members plan to quickly move economic development and tax bills through the chamber this week, they also plan to take a week off in April for spring recess.
