One killed, another injured in Durham Freeway wreck

Police say a driver and passenger fled the scene of a Wednesday night wreck on the Durham Freeway that left one person dead and another critically injured.

A Honda Civic was traveling at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control and struck a guardrail on the Durham Freeway near Mangum Street, according to police. The force of the collision ejected both backseat passengers.

Police said Jose Alfredo Cruz Mancilla, 17, of Charlotte, died from his injuries.Juaquin Pana Garcia, 27, of Raleigh, was in critical condition.
