After soaking, light rain, fog to greet morning commuters

Light rain and fog will blanket central North Carolina Thursday morning, a vast difference from the rains that flooded the Triangle on Wednesday.

"Just enough to be annoying, and that may linger into the afternoon," WRAL Chief Meteorologist Greg Fishel said.

The light rain comes after a soaking Wednesday afternoon that resulted in flooding across the area. Over three inches of rain was reported near the Wake-Durham county line. Nearly three inches of rain fell in Raleigh and at Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Flooding was reported along Interstate 540, on Forgotten Pond Road in Wake Forest and on Carver Street in Durham.

The afternoon storms also caused trees to fall on the 300 block of North Main Street in Wake Forest.

Things are expected to improve Thursday as temperatures reach 70 degrees.

"It probably will be Friday until we see a good deal of sunshine," Fishel said.

Highs could climb back into the low 80s on the final weekend of the month.
