Ninth suspect in Wake Forest kidnapping plot surrenders

A ninth suspect in the kidnapping case of Wake Forest resident Frank Janssen surrendered to the FBI in Atlanta on Wednesday morning, a spokeswoman for the agency said.

Patricia Kramer, 28, was named in federal indictments that were handed down Tuesday.

The indictments revealed that Janssen’s daughter, Wake County Assistant District Attorney Colleen Janssen, was the original target, but the team of kidnappers obtained the wrong address from an Internet search and wound up at Frank Janssen’s house on April 5. He was held hostage in a southeast Atlanta apartment for five days before being rescued during an FBI raid.

Kramer is among eight suspects accused of carrying out the kidnapping plot orchestrated by Kelvin Melton. Colleen Janseen won a conviction against Kelvin Melton in 2012 that put him in prison for life. He is incarcerated at Polk Correctional Institute in Butner.

Kramer is scheduled for a first appearance at 2 p.m. Wednesday in federal court in Atlanta.
