Officials with the state Division of Motor Vehicles are hoping to get public feedback Thursday evening about rule changes that could impact drivers across North Carolina.

The changes proposed by DMV could shorten wait times at offices and will also make North Carolina's license procedures similar to other states.

Officials want to get rid of the written test requirement for those drivers with a valid license from another state.

They also want to extend the amount of time โ€“ from one year to two โ€“ a person's license can be expired before he or she has to take the full written exam.

The public meeting will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the Chavis Park Community Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
