Capitol Broadcasting Corporation, owners of the Rocky Mount Mills property, plans to inspect the turbines and the dam on that property this week, work that could cause fluctuations in levels on the Tar River immediately above and below the dam.
CBC, which is also the parent company of WRAL-TV and WRAL.com, bought the property in 2007 and had never done a thorough inspection, a spokeswoman said.

Work on the dam is expected to take about two days, and it should be complete before the weekend.
Residents upstream of the dam might see lower water while those downstream could see a surge. City leaders advised those who planned to fish or otherwise use the river this week to use extra care.
