The two, which are part of the local mom-owned businesses that also offer Stroller Strides and other Fit4Mom offerings, will launch their spring running programs next month.

Midtown Moms on the Run will train participants for a 5K. The group will meet at the N.C. Museum of Art on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.

Raleigh Running Mamas will offer programs to train for either a 5K or a 10K at both Pullen Park on Fridays and Apex Community Park on Sundays. The first session will begin next month. A second will start in May.

The 5K program is designed for all fitness levels - beginners who have never run a race before to long-time runners who want to improve their times. The 10K program is for those who are running about 2 miles or 15 to 20 minutes at a time to experienced runners who want to improve their times.

Both programs include coached training runs, education about running and a weekly training plan. And, possibly the most important part of the program, they offer a supportive atmosphere where runners are encouraged and supported by the group's leaders and their fellow runners.

Strollers are welcome, but not required. Dads also are welcome to attend.
