Other WRAL Top Stories
Chefs at The Oxford in Raleigh love to think outside the box. During TRW, try the gastropub's PB and Gelee, a peanut butter mousse with bruleed white bread, grape gelee and grated white chocolate for dessert.
Two restaurants have some yummy hushpuppies available as appetizer options.Lucky 32 in Caryis serving up Sweet Potato Hushpuppies with country ham cream sauce – sounds like Southern deliciousness to me! In Chapel Hill, Weathervane is offering Jalapeno & Hoop Cheese Hushpuppies with tabasco butter for a favorite with a kick.
While we're on the subject of appetizers, another first course option that caught my eye is atSitti in downtown Raleigh. They will be serving Black Hummus – a puree of black chick peas, lemon, tahini, garlic and roasted red peppers. I'm a big hummus fan, but I've never eaten black hummus!
For a unique salad alternative, try the Warm Apple & Arugula at City Kitchen in Chapel Hill. It's an apple stuffed with mascarpone, arugula, mandarins and pistachio vinaigrette.
Two main courses which got my attention are in Raleigh. Zest Cafe & Home Artis offering a Pineapple Butter Glazed Pork Loin, served with molasses whipped sweet potatoes and Hawaiian greens. This dish seems like a culinary trip to the islands! AtBuku the Taiwanese Duo of Duck, a pan-seared duck breast and crispy duck leg with ginger-soy glaze, pickled radish, cucumber and honeydew salad and forbidden rice, sounds like a nice balance of flavors and textures.
Super adventurous eaters can go to Four Square in Durhamand try one of their appetizers. Their Red Beet and Frissee Salad with pickled mako shark and a mustard cornichon vinaigrette is certainly unlike any other TRW salad option.
