UNC housekeeping managers fired, moved after allegations of abuse

One housekeeping manager at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been fired and another reassigned after a group of employees filed a grievance against them earlier this month alleging a pattern of abuse. 

The complaint, by 15 housekeepers, alleged that their zone manager, Juanita Williams, and crew leader Annette Reaves created "an environment of fear and intimidation."

The housekeepers alleged that Williams humiliated them publicly, called them "stupid" and made them cry from "constantly screaming" at them. They claimed Reaves "tries to pit" housekeepers against one another.

On Friday, the group said that Williams was fired and Reaves was transferred to another zone, maintaining her supervisory role. The group had called for Reaves to be demoted to her previous position of housekeeper.
