I mentioned in my last entry that the Triangle area has a lot of tech mojo. Further evidence of that is the kind of events that are being held in the area. For example, this Saturday there's the North Carolina Science Blogging Conference, which you can learn about at

The conference was organized by medical journalist and blogger Anton Zuiker. "We wanted a mix of people, both active science bloggers and people new to talking about science. The goal is to get us together to explore ways to promote the public's understanding of science using Web blogs." Not only did Anton and the other organizers end up with a mix, they ended up with a lot of people -- 170 people are expected to attend the conference (it's officially "full" at this point and has a waiting list.)
The program of the conference covers a variety of topics, from basic science blogging, to illustrating posts, to promoting public understanding of science, to emerging technologies. The suggestions at the bottom of the conference program page reflect the wide variety of interests that the attendees have.
