Wilson Police Investigate Baby's Death

Wilson police are investigating the death of a newborn.

Police say the premature baby was born at a home on El Ramey Circle in Wilson early Sunday morning. Rather than seeking medical care for the newborn, the mother drove 12 miles to her mother-in-law's house on Baker Road.

911 dispatchers received a call around 8 a.m. Sunday. When crews arrived, the baby was dead. Police are trying to determine how, when, and where the baby actually died. An autopsy will be performed Monday morning.
