Teacher Reaches Plea Deal In Student Abuse Case

A judge ordered an award-winning teacher in Chapel Hill to stay out of the classroom.

Kathy Yasui-Der is accused of abusing two autistic students. She resigned from Frank Porter Graham Elementary School last year after she was arrested.

A co-worker testified Thursday she saw Yasui-Der hit one little boy.

After that testimony, Yasui-Der entered a prayer for judgement, which means the charges could be dropped if she obeys the law over the next year.
