From 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 11, through 6 a.m. Monday, Nov. 13, lane closures will affect travel on eastbound lanes of Interstate 40.

    The two right lanes will be closed on I-40 eastbound from the Orange County line, exit 269, to N.C. Highway 54, mile marker 273.

    Motorists can expect heavy delays while lane closures are in effect. Drivers are encouraged to take an alternate route if possible.

    The suggested alternate route for I-40 eastbound is:

  • I-85 North toward Durham (near Hillsborough) to the Durham Freeway/N.C. Highway 147 South, back to I-40 eastbound. This detour is approximately 1 mile longer than taking I-40 eastbound.
