An assistant football coach in Northampton County has been charged with rape, police said Thursday.
Marvin Lee Rawles, 43, of Garysburg, was charged Monday with second-degree rape, sexual battery and assault on a female. He was released on a $30,000 bond.

A Seaboard woman told police that she was sexually assaulted in her home last September, Police Chief George Reed s said.
Rawles is an in-school suspension monitor and coach at Northampton West STEM High School in Gaston. School district officials said he has been placed on paid suspension, pending an internal investigation.
Reed said the alleged victim is an adult and not a student.
