New Motions Filed In Peterson Case

There are new developments in the Mike Peterson case.

Tuesday, Caitlin Atwater, Kathleen Peterson's daughter, filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Durham novelist and former mayoral candidate Mike Peterson for the death of her mother.

Thursday, Atwater's attorney filed a motion to enter a protective order which would allow them to proceed with collecting witness statements.

The attorney wants to make sure Peterson's lawyer cannot prevent them from getting statements by claiming it will interfere with the criminal case.

To avoid tainting that trial, Atwater's attorney wants to get the information without it being released publically.
