DOT Announces Traffic Shift On U.S. 70 West In Durham County

The N.C. Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will shift traffic to the newly constructed outside lanes of U.S. 70 West at Interstate 85 North in Durham beginning at 8 p.m. Friday.

The department will also open the newly constructed I-85 North access ramp on U.S. 70 West. Traffic on U.S. 70 West now will be able to directly access I-85 North.

Motorists also can expect periodic lane closings during the shift. Changeable message signs will inform motorists of work zone conditions.

Officials say the traffic shift and lane closings are necessary to continue improving I-85 and U.S. 70.
