Raleigh, Clayton To Hold Fireworks Display On Fourth Of July

Officials in Raleigh say the city will go ahead with its fireworks show on the Fourth of July.

Spokeswoman Jayne Kirkpatrick said while the rains of the last two nights provided only a slight respite from the dry conditions, firefighters will be standing by at the State Fairgrounds.

Kirkpatrick says the fireworks will be launched from a safe site.

Meanwhile, the city is discouraging residents from setting off their own fireworks because of the continuing dry weather.

The show is scheduled for shortly after sunset.

The town of Clayton said it will hold its annual fireworks display from 9:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. at Muncipal Park on Stallings Street.
