Some roads in the area that are in need of repair might not get fixed as early as first scheduled.

After reviewing its budget, the Department of Transportation said budget constraints may delay some planned projects.

The DOT presented its 2004-2010 Draft Transportation Improvement Plan to the Board of Transportation Wednesday.

Among the proposed changes:

  • Delaying construction on the

    • Wake Forest bypass

    by one year to 2009.

  • Bumping part of a widening and bypass project connecting Interstate 85 to Highway 50 around Creedmoor by five years, beginning in 2010.
  • U.S. 70 in Raleigh, from Duraleigh Road to Triangle Drive, will be upgraded and a safer interchange at Lynn Road may be built in 2008, two years later than previously planned.

    • The transportation board is scheduled to adopt a final plan a year from now.
