ARCHER LODGE, N.C. — Independence Day fireworks in the newly incorporated town of Archer Lodge had to be postponed, but the community center's celebration will take place on July Fourth.

Community center representatives said the truck delivering the fireworks for the Saturday night celebration night broke down. Instead, the fireworks will go off at 9 p.m. Sunday.

This will be the first July Fourth celebration since Archer Lodge was incorporated last November. Representatives said the fireworks will likely be the only time the town gets a traffic jam.

There's been greater interest in Archer Lodge's fireworks this year, representatives said, because leaders in neighboring Clayton canceled its July Fourth celebration, citing the recession and lower tax revenues.
