Apex United Methodist Church is gearing up for its annual prom shop, an event that provides free prom dresses, accessories and more to local teens who otherwise couldn't afford them.

This year, the Apex Prom Shoppe, now in its ninth year, will be 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., March 17, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 17, at the church at 100 S. Hughes St., Apex.

As always, there is no cost to the girls for any of the items that they find. They also don't need to bring any documentation or proof of need. Organizers tell me that during the past several years, teens have had more than 1,000 dresses to choose from.

Organizers also could use your donations. They are looking for dresses, accessories, shoes and unopened makeup. They particularly need plus size dresses and larger sized shoes.
