The annual Apex Prom Shoppe, which distributes prom dresses and accessories at no charge to teens in need, is gearing up for a busy event next month.

The event is scheduled for 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., March 11, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., March 12, at Apex United Methodist Church, 100 S. Hughes St., Apex.

The Prom Shoppe is an outreach ministry of the Apex UMC Family of Faith Communities. The shop provides free dresses, shoes, jewelry and accessories to area teens who couldn't otherwise afford them. Registration is not required.

The shop also would gladly accept donations of dresses and other items. Donations can be dropped off at Gone Stitching, 106 N. Salem St., Apex; the Wake Zone Espresso, 6108 Old Jenks Rd., Apex; and the church office, 100 S. Hughes St., Apex.

Clean out those closets! Organizers tell me that they are in desperate need of larger size and plus size dresses and any accessories such as shoes and jewelry.
