APEX, N.C. — Wake County Emergency Medical Services will start providing care in Apex in July.

The Town of Apex requested that its EMS division be merged into the Wake County EMS for financial reasons that became clear as the town prepared its budget.

"Wake County (can) provide EMS service in a more economically efficient manner without any compromise in service," Dr. Brent Myers, medical director of Wake County EMS, said in a statement Friday.

All full-time Apex EMS workers will be offered jobs with Wake County.
