The town of Angier voted to deny the special use permit for the asphalt plant, which would have been built on Highway 210.

Yes, it was so packed, they actually had to wait in the parking lot, listening on their devices trying to get the word about what was going on. This asphalt plant was going to be two miles away from the downtown area where we are right now for seven hours, people in this community made it clear they did not want it here. The debate ended with the Board of Adjustment voting against a special use permit for an asphalt plant on Highway 2 10. The proposed development promised up to 30 jobs and reduced travel time for trucks getting asphalt for new construction and road repairs. Dozens of homeowners argued that the plant would affect health and property values in the area. A petition generated nearly 2500 signatures. The board agreed with homeowners. Yeah, Yeah. There's no evidence that's been here tonight saying that it will not be detrimental to certain people that live in this these communities.
