RALEIGH, N.C. — One person is dead after a charter bus accident Tuesday afternoon in Raleigh.

The Raleigh Police Department responded around 4:36 p.m. to 1312 Kirkland Drive due to a report of a bus falling on a subject.

Upon arrival, Jon Andrews, whom friends identified, was discovered at the scene. Andrews was crushed by an unoccupied bus while attempting to tow it.

According to reports, the victim was working underneath the bus when the vehicle fell and trapped him.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Karrie Fogg of Towing and Recovery, Professionals of NC, said there is a major risk in this line of work.

"A lot of people don't understand the risks that tow operators take every day, whether it's in the parking lot or a piece of equipment," said Fogg.

The victim was involved in the bus accident is Jon Andrews.

She knows about the dangers firsthand and is devastated to lose a fellow tow truck operator just doing his job.

"Jon was a unique individual. He was always willing to help anybody and everybody," said Fogg. "He was the type of person that would give you shirt off his back."

"He loved the towing industry; he loved his tow brothers."

Officials said the incident is currently under investigation and there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding this event.
