Pot, stolen guns found in home near where 15-year-old was found shot

A 15-year-old was shot and killed Monday night in Rocky Mount.

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police investigators found marijuana and stolen guns inside a Rocky Mount home were a teen was shot and killed on Monday night.

Capt. Westlyn Seabreeze, of the Rocky Mount Police Department, said officers were alerted to the shooting, in the 1300 block of Tarboro Street, by ShotSpotter technology, which reports when gun shots are heard.

They arrived to find the boy, 15, outside the home with multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to UNC Health Nash Hospital, where he died.

Seabreeze did not release the name of the boy or identify any suspects of motive in his shooting.

"Rocky Mount Police Department asks that you keep the family of this tragic event in your thoughts and prayers," Seabreeze said.

He said that police were investigating both the shooting and the stolen guns found near the scene.

"We’re working alongside our ATF partners to further investigate the origin of these firearms and how the were located inside the residence," Seabreeze said.
