With Valentine's Day right around the corner, we decided to ask some of the folks in the newsroom their picks for romantic or date restaurants. Reporters Amanda Lamb and Sloane Heffernan each have families. We asked them to give us their picks for those rare romantic evenings out away from the children.
Umstead Hotel (Cary) - Modern elegance and fabulous creative cuisine.
Fearrington House Restaurant (Pittsboro) - Traditional elegance combined with fine dining.
Peak City Grill (Apex) - Casual, fun atmosphere and a very tasty menu selection.
Vivace (Raleigh) - Hip, urban atmosphere with an selection of Italian delights.
Maximillians (Cary) - Cozy, relaxed atmosphere with variety of excellent dishes.
Second Empire (Raleigh) - Romance with historical charm. Great for a special occasion.
The Mint (Raleigh) - Great atmosphere and good food. Another great spot for a special occasion.
Cafe Tiramisu (Raleigh) - Classic Italian atmosphere with amazing food.
Casalinga Ristorante (Raleigh) - This restaurant is tucked away in the mini-city strip mall in Raleigh. It is a jewel! You feel like you have stepped into a New York City Italian restaurant. The owner has pictures all over the walls of celebrities that have dined at his restaurants in the past. It's awesome.
Girasole Trattoria (Wake Forest) - This restaurant is in my adopted town of Wake Forest. It has one of the best dishes that I have ever had in my life! The butternut stuffed pasta with scallops and sage butter is not to be missed. DELISH!
