TAYLORSVILLE, N.C. — An argument in a gas line led to an arrest Thursday in Taylorsville.

Police said that Todd Lackey argued with another man over a place in line at a Murphy Oil station and pointed a gun at the man before driving away.

Lackey was arrested after noon and charged with assault by pointing a gun. He was released on $500 secured bond.

In Charlotte and other areas in the western part of the state, some stations were out of gas. At stations that had gas, drivers waited for hours to fill up.

Gov. Mike Easley said Wednesday that his office was working with suppliers to hurry the distribution of gas to areas in need.
