MORRISVILLE, N.C. — Pack your bags. There's a new nonstop flight out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport.

Allegiant on Tuesday announced a new service from RDU to Destin, Florida, a Gulf Coast town in the Florida Panhandle.

“Allegiant is excited to offer Triangle-area travelers their only ultra-low-cost, nonstop option to visit Florida’s beautiful Emerald Coast,” said Lukas Johnson, Allegiant senior vice president of commercial. “We’re sure that area residents will take advantage of this convenient, nonstop service to enjoy all that Destin and the surrounding area have to offer.”

The new seasonal route will operate twice weekly, according to the airline. One-way fares on the new route will cost as little as $46.

Allegiant's announcement comes a week after Frontier unveiled six new flights from the Morrisville airport. The new flights from RDU will go to Buffalo, Houston, Milwaukee, New Orleans, San Antonio and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

RDU transported 11.6 million passengers in 2017, about 32,000 people per day. The airport said it has an $8.5 billion regional economic impact that supports 5,000 jobs on its Morrisville campus.
