Alleged Raleigh robber linked to Cary crimes

RALEIGH, N.C. — Steven Michael Abbott, 22, the man arrested Thursday for robbing a BB&T Bank branch near Crabtree Valley Mall in Raleigh was linked Friday to another crime in Raleigh and two in Cary.

Police said Abbott demanded money from a teller at the bank, at 4409 Creedmoor Road, and said he had a gun. On Wednesday, police said, he showed a gun to employees at a Rite Aid at 3432 Edwards Mill Road and said, "Leave me alone, and nobody gets hurt."

He was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, and he was being held in the Wake County jail.

On Friday, Cary police added two counts of armed robbery in connection with crimes July 9 at the Extended Stay on Regency Parkway and the CVS on Kildaire Farm Road.
