Murdaugh Charged With Swindling Sons of Dead Housekeeper
COLUMBIA, S.C. — Alex Murdaugh is expected to be charged with the murder of his wife and son.

According to attorney Jim Griffin, the former prominent South Carolina lawyer will be indicted on murder charges this week in connection with the deaths of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh. The two were killed on June 7, 2021, in a double homicide that remains unsolved.

A report from WIS News in Columbia, S.C., indicates that, per Griffin, the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) met with Murdaugh's family on Tuesday to let them know of the charges.

The SLED released a statement on the investigation.

“SLED’s investigation into the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh is still active and ongoing. Agents are committed to the integrity of the investigation, thus no additional information from SLED will be provided at this time.”

There are new questions about the events leading up to the stunning fall of Alex Murdaugh, a prominent lawyer in South Carolina.
Murdaugh was also indicted in June, this time in connection with an eight-year money laundering and painkiller ring with a friend and former client charged with trying to help him commit suicide.

Murdaugh wrote 437 checks worth $2.4 million that Curtis “Eddie” Smith cashed over eight years, keeping some of the money for himself and giving the rest for wide-ranging illegal activities, according to indictments handed up last week and unsealed Tuesday. Murdaugh has had more than dozen indictments filed against him, stemming from charges ranging from lying to police and trying to arrange his own death to stealing money from clients to arranging a $4.3 million in wrongful death settlements for a housekeeper who died in a fall at his home, then not giving her family a dime.
