RALEIGH, N.C. — Authorities asked the public to be on the lookout for a missing 19-year-old with a cognitive impairment last seen at WakeMed Saturday.

Dontay Jones was last seen walking in the 3000 block of New Bern Avenue toward Sunnybrook Road. A Silver Alert for him was issued late Saturday.

Jones is described as black, 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 210 pounds. He has short, black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a white tank top and black shorts, socks and shoes.

Anyone with information on Jones' whereabouts should call WakeMed Campus Police at 919-350-8171.

Developed in 2007, Silver Alert is a system that quickly notifies the public about missing endangered adults who suffer from dementia or other cognitive impairments, such as Alzheimer's disease.

It also allows caregivers and nursing homes to report a person missing. In the past, only a family member could report an adult missing.
