CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The owners of Al's Burger Shack have opened a neighborhood pub in Chapel Hill.
Al's Pub Shack is located at 50050 Governors Village.

"Though it took a little longer than we expected, we are very excited to bring the pub experience to this side of Chapel Hill and Chatham County," Al Bowers said. "Families and friends will find the same southern hospitality they've come to expect from Al’s and Mel’s. We want the Pub Shack to be a neighborhood place where old friends gather and new friends meet."

Al and Melody Bowers opened Al's Burger Shack in Chapel Hill in 2013. In 2017, a second location opened in Southern Village. That same year the couple also opened Mel’s Commissary & Catering to serve as a prep kitchen for the company's catering needs.

Al's Pub Shack menu includes comfort food like the Pub Shack Burger and Fish and Chips. There are also a few healthy options including the Super Bowl, which includes kale, quinoa and black beans. The Jack'd Chili is a fun take on traditional chili featuring jackfruit.

The shack features a mix of North Carolina beer on tap and bottled beers from around the world. The restaurant is open Monday through Thursday 11 a.m. until 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. until 12 a.m. and for brunch (starting April 28) from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The full menu is available on Sundays until 10 p.m.
