Airbnb's CEO has announced the vacation rental company will provide free housing for 20,000 Afghan refugees.

Brian Chesky, the company's CEO, tweeted at 3 a.m. Tuesday, saying the program would begin immediately.

"While we will be paying for these stays, we could not do this without the generosity of our hosts," he wrote. "If you’re willing to host a refugee family, reach out and I’ll connect you with the right people here to make it happen!"

Chesky did not say how long refugees would be provided with housing.
