Fayetteville was prepared for the potential for serious flooding. However, the rainfall totals weren't as high as expected, and the city was spared major damage or flooding. However, emergency crews were given a 'dry run' in how to prepare for a hurricane during the pandemic, which they believe could come in handy later this Hurricane Season.
Carteret and Craven counties are cleaning up after Hurricane Isaias. Communities there were mostly unscathed and sustained only mild damage from the wind and floods. Sand has been blown onto the roadways that is being pushed back to the beach, while crews work to get the power back on for everyone.
Like many communities, Goldsboro saw heavy rain, wind gusts of around 50 mph, a few downed trees and some power outages. Although they have several creeks and parks that are notorious for flooding during hurricanes, they did not have a substantial impact from flooding this time.
Emerald Isle is struggling with power outages after Hurricane Isaias passed over the NC coast on Monday night. One power line was snapped completely in half. Crews have been working for hours to fix it, but power may not be totally restored until around 11 p.m. on Tuesday.
