MORRISVILLE, N.C. — A plane that made an emergency landing at Raleigh-Durham International Airport early Thursday morning was carrying comedian Russell Peters, who had just performed in Durham.

Firefighters responded to the airport after Peters' flight made an emergency landing. It had reported a mechanical issue.

RDU officials said the private aircraft landed safely shortly after 1:30 a.m. In addition to Peters, six other people were on the plane.

Peters performed at the Durham Performing Arts Center on Wednesday night.

The plane took off from RDU at 11:42 p.m. and was headed to Dumas, Texas. It turned around above western North Carolina.

"Good news everyone...The crew and I are ok! Blew out a tire whilst taking off...had to burn fuel and circle back to the Raleigh airport...s*** got scary but all is well," Peters wrote.

Fans responded that they were glad Peters was OK.

"I bet you said a few words that made the air turn blue," one Twitter user said. "Glad everyone is okay."
