SELMA, N.C. — Another day, Another crash.

The intersection of NC-42 and Thanksgiving Fire Road was once again filled with blinking lights and smashed cars Wednesday afternoon.

Officials tell WRAL News the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The T-bone crash damaged three vehicles, and injured four people, including an infant.

Three dogs jumped from the wreck, and ran away. Animal control caught one, authorities found one dog dead in the roadway and a pet owner was reunited with his family's dog on Thursday.

The man founds his daughter's dog Jameson after bringing toys and blankets on Thursday to the intersection. Jameson was running along NC-42 when someone spotted him, the pet owner said.

The cause of Wednesday's crash is still under investigation, but the scene is far too familiar for first responders,

In May 2021, data from the North Carolina Department of Transportation showed the intersection has had 21 crashes in a 10-year span. Thanksgiving Fire Chief Paul Zais called it "the highway to hell".
To improve safety, NCDOT said it has already awarded a construction contract to turn this from a two-way to a four-way stop.

Work that's expected to be completed in the next few months.
