DURHAM, N.C. — The Durham CAN Affordable Housing Team continue their push to change current eviction policies at the Durham Housing Authority (DHA).

Wednesday the team held a public meeting with DHA to affirm two new recommendations they say serve the interests of everyone involved.

Durham CAN is asking the Durham Housing Authority to increase the time before filing evictions, and to require direct and documented communication between the property manager and resident prior to filing an eviction notice.

On January 27, the Durham CAN Affordable Housing Team spoke at a DHA Board of Commissioners meeting about their proposal. The group said they have had several discussion with the leadership and staff at DHA since that meeting.
