Shout out to those who maintained or better yet lost weight over the last year.

For everyone else, 5 On Your Side’s Monica Laliberte shares some reminders to consider as we work to get back on track.

Along with everything else, the pandemic threw healthier diets out the window. Many people turned to snacks and comfort food to combat COVID stress. A recent survey shows 32% of people admit to having gained weight since last March.

“Eating well is especially vital right now because obesity, heart disease, and diabetes increase the risk of COVID-19 complications," said Rachel Rabkin-Peachman with Consumer Reports. "So this is a good time to evaluate your diet and see which habits you want to keep and which you want to change.”

Start with re-establishing structure: plan meals and snacks as best you can, and cook more at home.

Finally, resist the urge to do cabinet or fridge drive-bys.
