Activists gathered in Raleigh on Saturday to raise awareness about gun violence.

The End the Violence Rally was organized by the NAACP and March for Our Lives.

Participants called on lawmakers to pass common-sense gun safety legislation.
One of the speakers survived the UNC-Charlotte shooting in April that killed two students.

“I was in the classroom the shooting happened in,” Megan Beach said. “I'm here in honor of my classmates who died. I never want anyone to go through what we went through that day.”

Event organizers said they're working to elect lawmakers who will make gun control a priority.
