About Raleigh Rescue Mission:
Raleigh Rescue Mission is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to serving the homeless in our community through the love of Christ.
Since 1961, Raleigh Rescue Mission has offered hope and life-changing help to well over 750,000 homeless and hurting individuals. From the simplest prayer in our lobby, to moving a client into housing, we work to share the love of Christ in everything we do.
The roots of the Mission go back to 1959, when local businessmen Charlie Morton and T.W. McDaniel invited homeless men to a revival meeting. At that time, Raleigh had a dire lack of services. Morton and McDaniel rallied community leaders and others to fill the gap. Their group began meeting weekly, primarily offering prayer and food for homeless men. Less than two years later, the Mission was born.
Today, we serve men and women battling life-controlling issues, women and children needing emergency shelter, those who thirst in the summer and shiver in the winter, those who never had a chance and those who need a second chance.
