RALEIGH, N.C. — One of our favorite food trucks took home honors this past weekend.
Congrats to Paul Inserra and the rest of the American Meltdown crew for winning several awards at The Grilled Cheese Invitational in Los Angeles, Calif.

Bloggers, food press and media gave Meltdown the Judges Award for their Hangover Melt, which featured Cultured Cow and Cabot pimento cheese, salsa verde and egg.

They earned a 2nd place honor in the just bread, butter and cheese category for their sandwich served on Guglhupf's pumpkin seed Cheddar bread and topped with Cultured Cow's Durham Jack cheese and served with a Havarti cheese crust.
They also won 3rd place in the dessert category for their sandwich served on La Farm brioche and topped with peach balsamic compote and sheep's milk ricotta cheese.

American Meltdown won 3rd place in last year's invitational for the De-Lish - a grilled muenster cheese served on Guglhupf's pumpkin seed Cheddar bread.

You can check them out Tuesday starting at 5 p.m. at Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, at the Jimmy Buffet concert at Walnut Creek Amphitheater in Raleigh on April 22 and at Brewgaloo in downtown Raleigh on April 26.
