9 family friendly Triangle events to check out this weekend

RALEIGH, N.C. — The fair and a lot of fall festivals are happening this weekend in the Triangle.
North Carolina State Fair - The fair returns to the N.C. State Fairgrounds this weekend. It was canceled last year due to COVID-19. We have your guide to the new food and rides, plus safety protocols.
Falling for Local at Dorothea Dix Park (Dix Park, 1800 Umstead Drive, Raleigh) - Celebrate Autumn in Raleigh with this family-friendly event at Dix Park on Saturday. The event is free to attend and will include live music, hay rides, inflatables, lawn games, kids activities, photo ops and a pumpkin patch.
Bull City Race Fest and Food Truck Rodeo (Diamond View Park, 318 Blackwell Street, Durham) - This festival has something for the fastest runners and families alike. It is Sunday at American Tobacco Campus and includes a half marathon, five miler and 1 mile distances. There will also be a variety of food trucks on hand.
Festifall Arts Market & More (Downtown Chapel Hill) - This annual celebration will take place as pop-up block parties at three different locations in downtown Chapel Hill this October. The first event is Saturday from 4 to 8 p.m. on Henderson Street.
Pumpkin Patch Express (North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, 433 W. Murray Ave., Durham) - Pick the perfect pumpkin to take home and decorate during this event at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science.
The Cupcake Run at Brier Creek (The Cupcake Run at Brier Creek, 8181 Brier Creek Pkwy, Raleigh) - This 7th annual 5K will happen Saturday morning. The run/walk starts at the clock tower at Brier Creek Commons and goes through the shopping center. It is stroller and pet-friendly.
Move-A-Bull City (The Scrap Exchange, 2050 Chapel Hill Road, Durham) - Move-A-Bull City is Bike Durham's annual celebration of transportation. This family-friendly event will have bike rides, workshops, music, hula hoops, jump ropes, street chalk, food trucks and more at The Scrap Exchange in Durham on Saturday.
Science Nights: Monster Makers (North Carolina Museum of Life and Science, 433 W. Murray Ave., Durham) - The North Carolina Museum of Life and Science in Durham will celebrate Halloween with this interactive monster-themed adventure Friday night. Mix and match stuffies to sew, glue, or pin together your own unique frankenstuff or design a perler bead creature and fuse it together with heat. Tickets are required for entry.
Fright Night (Edison Johnson Recreation Center, 500 West Murray Avenue, Durham) - Durham Parks and Recreation will host this free drop in event for all ages at Edison Johnson Recreation Center on Friday night. There will be carnival games, a costume parade, movie and more fun.
