87-year-old Raleigh man with dementia home safe

An 87-year-old Raleigh man with dementia is back home and safe Monday, according to the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

RALEIGH, N.C. — An 87-year-old Raleigh man with dementia is back home and safe Monday, according to the Wake County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Thomas Parrish was last seen walking away from his home before midnight Sunday near the 5800 block of Timber Lane in Raleigh.

The Silver Alert was canceled by 10 a.m. when officials confirmed he was safe.

According to Parrish's family members, he has dementia, is legally blind and does not drive. They thought he may be headed for his hometown in Johnston County.
