An 80-year-old woman escaped a house fire after a tree crashed into her home early Wednesday morning.

RALEIGH, N.C. — An 80-year-old woman escaped a house fire after a tree crashed into her home early Wednesday morning.

Raleigh firefighters responded to the home on Glenwood Avenue before 5 a.m.

A woman told WRAL News her 80-year-old mother was sleeping inside when a tree fell into the kitchen in the back of a home, igniting a fire. The woman was able to get out of the house and went to a neighbor's home for help.

The homeowner was not injured. Her daughter said she was very surprised to learn of the fire and glad her mother is okay.
