CLAYTON, N.C. — Authorities said a 7-year-old was killed in an accident that occurred on U.S. Highway 70 business near Guy Road in Clayton around 11 p.m. on Friday.

The accident happened near the Wake-Johnston county line and involved one pedestrian and two vehicles, officials said.

Authorities said Angel Juneal, 7, was ejected from a van that was traveling west on U.S. 70. According to officials, the van slowed for a pedestrian, 52-year-old Hea Woo, of Clayton, and was struck by a car in the rear. The collision caused the van to hit Woo and proceeded roll into a ditch, which threw Juneal from the vehicle.

Authorities said Leonel Martinez-Guzman, 37, of Raleigh, was operating the van and his wife, Yesenia Contreras, 41, was also in the vehicle, along with Juneal. Elizabeth Rhodes, 23, of Clayton, was driving the vehicle that struck Martinez-Guzman's van, according to officials.

Martinez-Guzman and Contreras were not injured; Woo suffered minor injuries
Officials said charges are pending against Rhodes and that alcohol was not a factor.
